 Definition

CASE tools stands for Computer Aided Software Engineering. CASE tools are software tools used to help reduce ­ program development time.

Examples:

Examples of CASE tools are :

Visual Case —> program used for software development, database design, system design, system engineering and business analysis. The program contains many CASE tools within, e.g. the flow chart tool which allows the user to easily create flowcharts.

UML – Stands for Unified Modelling Language, which is the standardized specification language for object modelling. Is is a general modelling language that includes graphical notation used to create and abstract model of a system.

ERM - Stands for Entity Relationship Model, which is a relational schema databse modelling method used to model a system and its requirements in a top-down approach.

WordPress – A internet program which allows the user to create online blogs to display information to their liking.

MS Word – a word document program that allows the user to create word documents and edit documents to change the styles to letters etc.

DFD – Stands for Data Flow Diagram, which is a diagram that describes the flow of data through a system.

Metamill – a powerful UML modelling software.





IPT Assignment Progress – 3rd August

Today i combined the context and data flow diagrams, along with the survey to compile together the design report. Andrew is completeing the screen designs and report designs which will accomplish the majority of the design report. All thaty is left of this report is the data dictionary, which i have started and it is in its early stages.

Along with that, i have also compelted the implementation report, which talks about how the public will find out about the new website.

Sas is stil continuing on the website design, which is near its completion.

This post was delayed due to the fact that I forgot to post. On this particular day, i completed the context and data flow diagrams, which were part of the DESIGN REPORT. After i had completed these two diagrams, i aided Sas with the website design.

I have completed both the data flow and context diagrams
Stephen has initiated the beginning of the website using frontpage and Andrew is cpontinuuing on designing layouts for the website

As I had previously stated in the last post i posted that i will be doing the feasibility study, that has been changed to andrew’s part of the assignment. today i assisted with him with the design layouts.

I have started today the context and data flow diagrams. The User requirements report has been completed with the help of stephen as he has done the survey.

after consulatation with mrs west, i have combined the two parts of the ‘user requirements report’ together into the one copy. i have also just started to begin the ‘feasibility report’.
